Both Challenger 7 Parks are dedicated to the memory of the seven astronaut lives that were lost in the 51-L Space Shuttle Challenger mission. The dedication ceremony for Challenger 7 North Park, originally known as Brookside Park, was held on Sunday, September 7, 1986.
