June 16-22 is National Pollinator Week. On Monday, June 16, the Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of Columbus St. John The Evangelist planted numerous native perennials at Butterfly Park, 1010 Woodland Heights Blvd. The native plants, many of which are also great pollinators, included butterfly milkweed, pale purple coneflower, purple coneflower, prairie blazing star, New England aster, tall blazing star, lance leaf coreopsis and black eyed susan.

The Streamwood Park District thanks the Ladies Auxiliary for their work. Pictured from left to right are Doreen Gibrich, Leona Shoemaker, Dotty Ferrer, Nancy Moulton, and Florence Graziano.

Don’t forget to join us for our Play in the Park: Christmas in July event beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 9 as we officially celebrate the grand reopening of Butterfly Park to the Streamwood community!
